Family Reunion: Bald Eagle

One of Amy's cousins told me about an Eagles nest about 5 miles away off the highway, so Dave and I went searching for the nest. We were disappointed not to find the eagle, but we found him on a huge boulder about 500 feet.

I slowly walked up to him and took photos every 20 feet or so.

He saw me coming and got scared, but his escape was beautiful.

Family Reunion: Butterflies

On the land were some awesome butterflies. I think I took nearly 100 photos as I was trying to get these guys at all angles and here's the result.

Family Reunion: Jack Rabbits

While on our four wheeling adventure we came across this Jack Rabbit and watched him for a while until he hopped off.

He thought we couldn't see him.

Family Reunion: Four Wheeling

Amy came out on Friday along with the rest of the family and we went around on the four wheelers and explored around the area.

1

The surround farms had these beautiful horses with their colts.

2

The dirt is really dry there, but somehow plants work their way through the dryness and grow.

The view from up top was great. The little white speckles at the end of the green is where we camped.

Here's Julie.

6

They had some awesome rock formation on the land.

Amy and I stayed behind while Julie and Kelly went on ahead and kicked up a bunch of dust.

Family Reunion: Capitol Reef

The main highway goes through part of Capitol Reef National Park so it's visited by many on their way to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. I've been a big fan of the area, having visited Canyonlands and Arches three times, so I enjoyed the rock formations of the park.

As the pioneers would pass through this canyon they would write their names on the walls, hence this place is called Pioneer Registry, It was neat to see all the old names with the dates and think about how neat it is that their names have been preserved all these many years as their legacy.

We saw a lot of wildlife in the park and I'll post those next.
