Festival of the colors

It seems that I am a little behind on posting pictures that I have been taking. This past weekend was the Festival of Colors at the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Krishna is a religion in Indian that dates back to the first century. As a farewell to Winter and welcoming of Spring.

The event started at 4:00 with some story telling and skits. They served some wonderful Indian food which added to the experience of being there.

Before the colors started getting thrown there was belly dancer and then the colors were thrown.

This year the event drew more than 5,000 people. I had a real good time and I am glad that I was able to be there with friends.

Seeing this man with his phone in his hand most likely making a video made me wonder what he thinks of the festival and whether or not this is how it is performed and carried out in his country.

Enjoy this video that I made of the event.

Spring Break 2007

Spring Break is a wonderful time for a student. This time around I went home again. My girlfriend Amy was able to take a few days off and come along for the ride. The trip there was great. I usually make the drive by myself to have someone else accompany me was real fun.

The Salt Flats of Utah have give wonderful reflections as you can see here.

Amy and I would stop frequently and take pictures of interesting things along the way, it's great dating someone that shares the same interest of photography.

Our last stop before getting into Sacramento was in Reno, Nevada. I got us back and the following day we got up early and went to San Francisco.

We went to Treasure Island first and hiked around.

From there we went into the City and tried to find parking, finally leaving the car near Pier 39. We went to see the sea lions, entered in some of the churches, walked the streets of Chinatown, went to Union Square, and just had a great time.

While walking around we saw some skateboarders and bikers.

After watching those guys bike and skateboard we walked out of Embarcadero towards the Piers and we came across these parrots that were just hanging out in the park. It was truly awemazing to see parrots outside of a cage or zoo in the middle of the city.

During the walk back to Pier 39 we were accompanied by this beautiful sunset.

Lombard street was a must to see.

On the way out of the City we stopped at Treasure Island and took some great city scape shots. The drive home was tiring after walking around all over creation, but I was happy with the pictures that I took and looked forward to viewing them on my labtop.

Sunday after church Amy and I walked around the California State Capitol and Old Sacramento. I had never been inside the capitol so I found it really interesting and fun to walk inside and take a self guided tour. The grounds where the Capitol is located in downtown Sacramento is surrounded my many trees and flowers and is just real delightful to walk around.

This guy was too cute to pass up.

From Sacramento we took the back roads and found some great places to take some pictures. This swampy area was part of a farm irrigation.

Here are some fun night shots.

Amy flew home Tuesday morning to get back to work and worked the rest of the week with my brother. It was able to get together with my buddy Dustin and some others. Here are the pictures from that trip to the lake last Saturday.

My friend Aaron took these pictures of me while I was on the lake. Then I took some of him while he was out there.

Dustin along with his daughter Eli took us back to shore after a great day on the lake - Thanks Dustin!!

The trip back seemed really long not having Amy in the car with me, but I still stopped from time to time to take pictures. Leaving Wendover, Nevada and getting into Utah I stopped once again at the Salt Flats and took these wonderful reflection pictures.

These pictures pretty much conclude my trip. It was a great Spring Break and it has been pretty hard getting back into the swing of these here at school.
