We finally got to Buenos Aires and we were very happy and anxious to get settled in our hotel room and get out and see the city that we came to love when we first lived there back in 1996. We decided to take a walk down memory lane and visit our out neighborhood and hand out spots.

We made our way to the famous walking street - Florida.

From there we made our way to retiro train station to buy our tickets to travel to Beccar station.

Jim and I wanted to take it one step at a time just taking in every step of the way.
7
We noticed that the local park was getting remodeled and was supporting a new fence.

We finally made it, we were at our house. I was able to visit the house once before back in 2001, but Jim hasn't been here since we left it about ten years ago.

Where there was once a nursery, there is now a yacht sale lot.

Ice isn't something that is used as much as we are used to, so we would always get sent to the YPF gas station to buy a bag or two.

This is the fruit and vegetable shop. When we first moved to Argentina my mom sent my sister Charity and I here to buy some vegetables for the salad. We got there and found everything we needed except carrots, so I started to ask the man if they had any but quickly realized that I didn't know the word in Spanish. I proceeded in trying to make a carrot shape with my hands and describing it as orange. He looked at my perplexed and after realizing that we didn't want oranges we got us the carrots. To this day my sister and I still laugh about our first trip to the vegetable market.

This place use to be a movie rental place and now is a gym. It was closed shortly after Blockbuster moved in five blocks away. Other than the fact that it's a gym the building looks exactly the same. I remember once my brothers and I walked here with our dog and we left him outside as we looked for a movie to rent. As we looking we heard a big thud - something had hit the window. We all walked over and realized that our dog had seen one of us and walked straight into the window and was walking around a little dazed and confused.

Argentina is really big into their pastries and we bought some treats for our walk to the other train station.

There are two trains that went to our house, this is the nicer train of Buenos Aires and is big appeal for tourism as it's recognized as being among the best in South America. We would always take this train home from school, so we decided to take it back to school.
23
We didn't make the train so we had to wait a good 15 to 20 minutes for the next one, which gave us a moment to rest up and enjoy the weather.

Before we got to the school we stopped off at the San Isidro station and got some ice cream at Freddo's. When we first moved to Argentina we made some friends (John Hocklander and others) and then took us here to get some ice cream - you remember that John?

Our next stop was at our school, they have tightened security and we weren't allowed to pass and see the school - not even to take a picture. So I got this picture from my waist and I am glad that it came out ok.
After here we went back to the other train and headed back to the hotel to go to the tango show. So my next set of pictures will be those of the tango show - which I'll try to post a little later.
I look forward to reading your comments and I always appreciate hearing which are your favorites. So take a second and let me know what you think of the first part of Day 5. Take care!
