Rugby Playoffs

This weekend UVSC Rugby team hosted their division playoffs and won their first game. I showed up a little after the second half started and was disappointed that were were down by about ten points. I waited by our goal frustrated that most of the game was being played down on the other side of the field. Suddenly our team broke apart their defense and took over the game.

Where nothing was happening down where I was, there was lots of action. It made for a really enjoyable game and made be proud to be a UVSC student. They had another game today at 1:00 and if they win that then they'd continue onto New Mexico, I believe, for some more playoff games.

Elegance and Grace

Thursday Amy and I went to the UVSC Dance Company's Pre-Tour Concert. This team is getting ready to return to England to enter two Medleys, Latin and Standard, into the International Invitation representing the US. The team has won four previous titles and hope to win two more this year.

Amy and I really enjoyed this show, because of the wide variety dances. They performed everything from Salsa to the Waltz. This show continues today and go until Monday, being its last show at 7:30. If you're in the area, support this team and go and enjoy the show - bring the whole family.

ROTC: Camp Williams

This last Friday I went with a friend from the paper to cover a story about the ROTC training that took place at Camp Williams.  I've never taken pictures of the armed forces and have always wanted to so I was happy for this opportunity, despite the fact that it was too early for me.

I'd never been close up to a Blackhawk ... and well come to think about it, I've never been close to a helicopter ... and I was surprised at how much wind it picks up when it lands and takes off.  They told me to knee before and after, but I didn't think I'd have to basically take cover because of all the rocks that were thrown my way.  They are really impressive machines.

My friend Jennie was nice enough to stand still while I took her picture ... it was cold that morning.

I really enjoyed taking these pictures.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Baseball: UVU vs. Utah

AFter losing the season opener 12-6 to Utah UV came back and played strong as a team. Marcus Moore, our starting pitcher, played his first shut out game. It made for a very exciting game. We were able to end the game 8-0.

One of the Athletics's Marketing Departments games for the audience was putting your head on the bat and spinning around it then running to third base. It's fun sitting next to the dugout, because when the girl started running all the players started laughing and I saw why ... one of the players had put polish on the bat and it had left a big black dot on her head.

UV had a good reason to celebrate after this game. They played as a team and finished strong.

Softball: UVU vs. BYU

UVU and BYU recently had their games cancelled over the weekend because of the weather conditions.  The snow melted and made conditions perfect for a game so they scheduled a last minute game.

It turns out that my friend's wife is on the BYU team and I was pleasantly surprised to see him in the stands, so I snapped a few pictures for them.

We held BYU off pretty good, but that didn't last as they had some better pitchers and won the game 7-0.
