Sunday Amy and I ventured out of Nauvoo and made our way to Carthage to visit the historic jail where Joseph Smith was martyred. We had a nice drive and we were enjoying the country side.
We watched for clouds because the weather report predicted thunderstorms. In Utah thunderstorms are predicted a lot and that usually means some lightning. So we started seeing these awesome clouds filled with blues I'd never seen in a cloud, and I had the bright idea of driving towards the clouds to see what was going on on near the Mississippi River.
We got over to the Mississippi River and were stuck in traffic and Amy and I saw some mist over the River. I've never been to the Mississippi and I didn't think there was a waterfall of any kind but there was a lot of mist coming off as if there was. The mist made its way over to the road and the storm followed. We felt like we were in the middle of a car wash it was down pouring soo much. We got out of the traffic and continued our drive to Carthage and it started to hail - hail the size of quarters.
We arrived at the jail and waited out the storm in the visitor center there. When the storm past a mere 30 minutes later I was surprised to see the damage the storm had caused.
This tree fell down during this storm and the owners of the house was lucky that it fell into the street and not on the house.
The rest of the day cleared up as we headed back to Nauvoo going back along the Mississippi.

These could be published in a magazine or newspaper. Amazing.
