Bonneville Speedway

Here are the rest of the pictures from my trip to the Bonneville Speedway on Saturday. It was really fun seeing all of these cars getting ready in the pit area and then to see them line up near the starting line.

Here's what the salt looked like. There weren't any paved roads nears the race tracks it was all over the salt. The road were well worn down but if I got off the road a little I could hear the salt get flung up into the wheel wells.

This was pretty much the main man of the event. He checked out the vehicles one last time to make sure they were buckled in and ready to rumble, and sent them on their way.

One thing that I enjoyed doing was to talk to to the drivers of the cars right before they took off and see how fast they were hoping to go. Some said 160 while others said 300. I asked this guy and he said as fast as he could in a somewhat smartalike way, he was a little rude. But I had to laugh a little later when I watched him leave because he ended up spinning out of control and not finishing the race - he wasn't hurt but I just thought it was a funny that it was the only rude driver that didn't make it to the end of the course.

Amy and I had a good drive back to Orem and we ended up stopping in Salt Lake City first to take pictures at the International Peace Gardens. All in all it was a good day.
