UVSC becomes UVU

Monday March 19th was a historical moment for UVSC as Governor Huntsman came and signed a bill to make it Utah's new univeristy - Utah Valley University.

President Sederburg started off the event, introducing many of the local community leaders as well as some religious leaders.

Justin Davis, the current Chief Justice of UVSC student government spoke on behalf of the students.

Senator Valentine has been a huge help in progess UVSC has made towards becoming a University and it was great to finally meet him.

A huge support to UVSC has been Ira Fulton. Ira A. Fulton is an Arizonan philanthropist, land developer and businessman. Business Week has listed Fulton 36th on its list of "The 50 Most Generous Philanthropists" for 2006. Here at UVSC we hope to help him go from 36th to 35th.

President Monson, an Apostle for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also spoke at the event. He was here in 1971 when the school had its groundbreaking and was moved from Provo to here.

Governor Huntsman was the concluding speaker and signed the bill to make UVSC a University shortly there after.

We are all very excited to see UVSC take this step forward in becoming a University
